Hair Loss Causes

Well, hair loss is a natural process as when some hair falls out, new hair replaces it. However there are number of factors influencing it.

Some causes for hair loss

It could be due to an illness or a major surgery which you would have undergone. Ofcourse this hair loss cause is only temporary as it is associated with stress caused by your illness.

Hormonal problems could also lead to hair loss. For instance, if your thyroid gland is hyperactive or underactive, it can lead to hair loss. But this can be overcome with the help of proper treatment for thyroid. Similarly if there is imbalance of androgens or estrogens hormones. This problem could also be solved by proper balancing of hormonal level.

Similarly, women notice hair loss about three months after confinement which is mostly related to hormones. Usually at the time of pregnancy, there is increased secretion of hormones which helps to keep hair. But after child birth, the hormone level returns to original state, the normal cycle of growth and loss starts once more.

Medicines used as blood thinners, medicines used for gout, high blood pressure, medicines taken for problems related to heart, birth control pills and antidepressants can also cause hair loss.

In the same way, fungal infections on the scalp can lead to hair loss especially in children.

Finally even lupus or diabetes can cause hair loss.

Less amount of protein in diet can also cause hair loss. Especially people who reduce intake of protein suddenly as part of diet control experience hair loss and this can be replaced by intake of proteins.

Hair loss in women

As women grow older, they tend to lose hair. It more or less starts thinning and they lose hair on the crown and at the hair line.

Hair loss in teens

It can be due to sickness or just lack of proper diet. For instance, chemotherapy can lead to hair loss. Even teens that follow a hairstyle that pulls on the hair for more time can experience hair loss.
