How to Cut Your Own Hair at Home

Cutting one's hair is quickly becoming a great fad. This self cutting is very popular with those who seek to be stylists, who are emo in tastes, or who simply do not want to spend ten dollars on a trim. There is nothing wrong with cutting your own hair, matter of fact, done correctly; it can ensure the best satisfaction possible. You know what you want, you can do it and do it right.

Tips for Cutting your Own Hair

1. Wet the hair first. By leaving the hair damp, and well conditioned, the hair is easy to manipulate. This can make it considerably easier to cut. Combing or brushing the hair strait also helps.

2. Determine the length of hair that you want. If you have curly hair, make the length a little longer than desired because the curls will raise the hairline when they dry.

3. Take small cuts. The smaller the cut, the less likely one will mess up the hair and need to have it professionally fixed. Also, cut the hair a little long so that you have room to trim and even the hair out.

4. Take your time. There is no one standing behind you telling you to hurry up. It is your hair and your pampering, enjoy the adventure.

5. For the back portions, consider either having two mirrors or having a second person cut the back. The back can be very difficult for many people to get on their own because of the difficulties of seeing directly behind yourself. This can be solved by placing two mirrors facing each other, each at a slight angle. Then, by standing between the two mirrors, one can see behind themselves, just remember it is a mirror image of a mirror image. An easier method, grab a friend to finish the back.
