How to Curl Hair

Curly hair is one of the most eloquent styles of hair that a woman can sport. The curls can add dimension to any hair style and bring the interest levels to new heights. Many women think that they need to see a stylist to curl their hair, but this is not the case in all instances.

Methods of Curling Hair

There are a few methods of hair curling that one can do at their home. There is the hot roller method, the curling iron method, the cold roller methods, and the rag curlers. Each of these methods can produce beautiful curls without ever having to see a professional.

Hot Rollers

Hot rollers produce larger, more stable curls than the other methods. This method is new to the home techniques, but has been used professionally for generations. In this method, the curlers are heated and placed in wet hair. The easiest way to get all over curls is to have a friend apply the ones in the back while you apply the one's front. This can make for a great hair styling part activity.

Cold Rollers

Cold rollers are almost the same thing as the hot rollers, but the rollers are cold and often left in over night. This method creates larger but less stable curls. This is one of the most common roller method used in America. This method has also been made an icon in the Saturday morning cartoons as the woman who is always trying to kill the mouse or has to hit someone with a heavy pan.

The Curling Iron

The curling iron is the fastest method to curl one's hair. This method includes applying a heated curling iron to the hair and applying hairspray to the hair while it is on the iron to get the best and strongest curls. One must be careful when removing the hair from the iron since the hair will be sticky and will want to remain on the curling iron. Care should be taken when using this method because the iron is hot and can burn those who are not being careful.

Rag Curls

Rag curls are one of the most common methods for children to get their hair curled. This method is much like the cold roller method, but instead of stiff rollers, the hair is wrapped around rags that are then tied to hold the hair in place. This method makes it more comfortable for children to sleep in and much less likely that the child could hurt herself while sleeping. This method produces smaller curls, but the effect is still very nice.
